2011 World AIDS Day Agenda National HIV/AIDS Awareness Day is December 1. The Niagara County AIDS Task Force has held a commemoration event on that day every year since 1994 – and 2011’s promises to be one of the most memorable. This year the date falls on a Thursday. At 5 PM we’ll gather in the Niagara Arts and Cultural Center, 1201 Pine Ave. at Portage Road in Niagara Falls for a 2-hour program that concludes in a free community feast. Please join us. Wine on Wednesdays Wine on Wednesdays brings together individuals from all walks of life, coming together for one evening every month to enjoy a gourmet three course meal, wines from all over the world, and most importantly, each other's company; all while supporting the programs and services of AIDS Community Services of WNY. The cost per person is $55 and includes dinner, wine, tax and gratuity. Follow this link for more information. |

Play Gay Bingo! Gay Bingo continues! It is held once a month and here's the link for place and time. Arrive early; many people had to be turned away in December from this popular monthly event. Proceeds go to the AIDS Plus Fund in WNY, which assists many organizations, including the Niagara County AIDS Task Force. |

National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day The Niagara County AIDS Task Force marked the National Women and Girls HIV/AIDS Awareness Day on March 10, by sponsoring a health conference in the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center. Follow this link to learn more about this successful event. The aim was to bring together members of the community and professionals who serve women in health, education, social, religious or other capacities to learn about HIV and to brainstorm strategies to prevent its spread. Every 35 minutes, another woman tests positive for HIV in the United States, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Information on the following was presented:

World AIDS Day 2010 Continuing a tradition which began in 1994, the Niagara County AIDS Task Force observed World AIDS Day on December 1, 2010 at the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center, Niagara Falls, New York. On December 1st every year, the world comes together to commemorate World AIDS Day. World AIDS Day was introduced in 1988 by the World Health Organization. This was the first time that attention around the world was focused for one day in the year on AIDS. It provides the opportunity to increase awareness of the seriousness of the pandemic.
